will also undertake a wide range of location and consumer related project work.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • 2+ years experience of working within a Retail or Consultancy location planning team.
  • Proven track record in sales forecasting.
  • Full understanding of location planning methodologies and usage of geo-demographics.
  • Experience in the application of analytical tools such as GIS, Alteryrx and SPSS.
  • Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) cross-functionally and to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Excellent team player.

Managing the system, you’ll consider the best way our customer data can be looked at and applied to securing brand new sites.

We are currently recruiting for a Project Analyst to join the Location Planning team based at Hilmore House in Leeds/Bradford. The successful applicant will be responsible for working with Location Planning Managers, providing analysis to continually improve our sales forecasting accuracy and techniques.

If successful, your responsibilities will include the analysis of existing store performance and the customer behaviour leading to that performance, together with the development of new and existing models to produce sales forecasts for future and trading stores of various formats. You will use spatial and statistical techniques to produce analysis to an industry-leading level of accuracy. You will perform analysis to understand the physical factors affecting store performance, using these outcomes to improve forecasting techniques and sharing them with the business. You will produce ad hoc analysis for the Location Planning and Property teams and other parts of the business, to a high standard and to tight deadlines.

We are looking for a highly analytical candidate with experience of project analysis and experience of spatial and statistical analytics. Advanced proficiency in using Excel and PowerPoint is required. You will have experience of analytical tools such as SAS, SQL Server, SPSS, Alteryx or other.

Experience of GIS systems is also an advantage but is not essential. You will be both creative and proactive, with the ability to assimilate and analyse data to make critical, objective and reasoned judgements. You will enjoy both working as part of a quickly growing and highly motivated team and on your own. A willingness to learn new and specialist software is also required.

You will be able to communicate well verbally and using reports, explaining complex issues in a straightforward manner to a variety of audiences. You will be able to cope with a demanding (and often pressured) workload. An understanding of the UK retail (preferably food) market, geography and demographics is desirable.

Role Description

The Senior Analytics Consultant will be working with retail, telco, insurance, financial and other businesses to maximise the value they get from spatial data. Typically he/she will work with customers to build customised datasets for applications such as real estate forecasting models, store and branch market optimisation models, geographically targeted marketing models, risk modelling, customer segmentation and propensity models, geodemographic segmentation and store clustering models.

The Senior Analytics Consultant will have experience of building spatial datasets and data models using both static and behavioural (transactional) data in industries such as retailing, telecommunications or insurance as well as incorporating the geographic location of customers, competitors, activity generators, and store locations. Experience in building retail catchment areas and using data warehouses or data-marts for customer and store/branch focused analysis, and working with large data volumes are major assets.

Responsibilities will include

  • To assist the Analytics and Data Consulting team with a focus on spatial data development, processing, manipulation, analysis and visualisation
