We will also hear the key findings from The SLA Salary Survey 2024 and congratulate our Student Award winners.

Our speaker and panellists include:

Tom Whittington, Director or Retail & Leisure Research, Savills

Tom has advised retailers, landlords and developers for 25 years on all things retail and leisure real estate, from store expansion strategies, shopping centre feasibility, supermarket performance and development consultancy. For the last 10 years he has been a commentating on ways of rationalising and improving retail places to address the needs created from over expansion and addressing both economic and environmental sustainability challenges. His passion lies with creating genuine curated mixed-use spaces that serve better social value, have more positive environmental impact, while still fulfilling the financial expectations of investors and other key stakeholders. Tom curates Savills award winning publication Reimagining Retail, which is a cross industry collaboration of thought leadership that discusses some of the biggest challenges facing the sector, and their solutions.


Sam Fox, Head of Research and Analytics at Ellandi

As Head of Research & Analytics at Ellandi, Sam’s role is to ensure that the investment, asset management and regeneration teams have all the insight they need to inform their strategy. Ellandi is the UK’s leading delivery partner for investing in, transforming and managing retail and town centre spaces. Since 2008 Ellandi has partnered with major stakeholders, from local authorities to global investors and lenders on over 50 projects across the UK.


Samantha Bain-Mollison, Former Retail Director at Shaftesbury PLC

Former Retail Director on the leadership team at Shaftesbury PLC. Led the branding, strategy and leasing of the entire 16 acre portfolio including the central London destinations of Carnaby, Soho, Seven Dials, Chinatown and Covent Garden.

A creative curator, place-maker, and spokesperson with a partnership approach in business. Skilled at creating successful and sustainable long term destinations in the heart of the West End.


Matthew Soffair, Senior Strategist, LGIM Real Assets

Matt is a senior strategist in LGIM Real Assets global research and investment strategy team. Matt works cross-sector but specialises in all consumer-facing real assets sectors, in particular Retail, Leisure and Hotels. He is responsible for market research, driving strategic operational initiatives and guiding investment strategy. Matt is also responsible for research relating to key thematic areas, including ESG, climate transition risk, operational real estate and emerging alternatives sectors. Matt joined LGIM Real Assets in 2018, having spent over seven years at specialist retail and leisure consultancy, CACI, where he worked directly with over 45 retail, leisure and FMCG brands to inform their property and customer acquisition strategies.
