We would like to share some good news today, with a brilliant project founded by one of our members, Laura Harris from LH Analytics.
Please get involved and spread the word about High Street Positives!
I launched the HighStreetPositives initiative earlier this year to challenge the overwhelmingly negative narrative around our high streets. A survey I conducted in collaboration with Find Out Now, involving over 54,000 people, has highlighted just how critical this is—44% of respondents say media coverage of the high street is negative, with only 17% viewing it as positive. And here’s the striking part: there’s an 88% correlation showing that people exposed to negative news are less likely to want to visit their high street.
HighStreetPositives shares stories of regeneration, new openings, arts, community initiatives, events, and more—all positively impacting the high street. The goal? To inspire thriving high streets that foster community, creativity, and investment. Engagement has been absolutely fantastic, with over 10,000 LinkedIn followers, nearly 3,000 newsletter and group subscribers, and 1,000 HighStreetPositives page followers in just a few months—and it’s growing fast! We’re building an influential following across the high street ecosystem, from directors and founders to local champions in BIDs, councils, real estate, retail, placemaking, and more. This encouraging response shows there’s real potential to shift the narrative and drive meaningful change for the high street.
How can I get involved?
