The Society for Location Student Awards 2025

The SLA Student Awards are designed to reward final year Undergraduate and Masters students who have achieved excellence in the broad field of location analysis. The award scheme is open to students registered at UK Universities in the 2024/25 academic year and undertaking dissertations or extended projects involving location analysis.

The society will award prizes in two categories:

  • The Undergraduate Award
  • The Masters Award

A winner and runner-up will be selected in each category by an expert panel. Judges will be looking for work that makes both academic and practical contributions to the field.

Entry criteria

In order to apply for the SLA Student Awards 2025, you must meet the following criteria. You are/were:

  • Completing a dissertation or final year extended project in the broad field of location analysis
  • Completing studies at a UK university / institute of Higher Education
  • Enrolled as an undergraduate (BA/BSc) or Masters (MA/MSc/MRes) student in 2024/25

Students in any subject area are invited to apply providing that they meet the above criteria. Example subjects may include (but are not exclusive to) geography, demographics, GIS, business and management.

The deadine for entries is 5pm on Friday 19th September 2025.

How do I enter?

Once you have checked the entry criteria, simply complete our online Entry Form here.
Award winners will be notified by email and invited to attend a SLA event (date to be confirmed) to meet members, network and collect their certificate and cash prize (winner: £200, runner-up: £50 in both categories). Reasonable travel expenses will be covered by the society.
