Knowledge Required – What you’ll be doing

DRIVE PROFITABLE SALES GROWTH

  • Responsible for ensuring that key databases and analytical tools uses across the Delivered Sales team are kept up to date, with clean data that reconciles to internal and external sources. Develop and maintain our suite of databases to ensure they are user friendly and fit for purpose
  • Identify and drive forward capacity enabling initiatives across the Delivered Sales Operations and Delivered Sales Operational Development teams. Employ strong analytical capabilities to quantify the size of the prize and our priorities
  • Identify opportunities within the Online operating model and space utilisation to release additional capacity across the network
  • Apply your advanced GIS skills to continually refine our network territories – balancing capacity, productivity and operational priorities. Work collaboratively with the Analytics, Planning and Retail teams to successfully implement territory changes

INNOVATION AND GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR OUR CUSTOMERS

  • Plan and forecast growth projection for future capacity planning, built up from an innovative demand model. Ensure we can understand who the Online shopper is, where they live and how likely they are to shop with ourselves or competitors
  • Develop and maintain a model to measure and track our network capacity in-order to inform our investment strategy. Understand and capture the operational realities (demand profiles, changing consumer trends, and productivity movements) to ensure we can model capacity accurate

KEEPING THINGS SIMPLE AND EFFICIENT TO REDUCE COSTS

  • Identify and drive forward capacity enabling initiatives across the Delivered Sales Operations and Delivered Sales Operational Development teams. Employ strong analytical capabilities to quantify the size of the prize and our priorities
  • Improve the efficiency of processes used by building and automating models using Visual Basic, SAS, Alteryx and associated tools as well as incorporating a spatial approach through the use of GIS
  • Apply your skills and analytical capabilities to support other Online strategic priorities, potentially outside of the team (e.g. within Planning, Forecasting and Analytics). Champion the tools and benefits of spatial analytics and be the lead GIS user across the group.
  • You’ll support the development and use of GIS tools.

What you’ll be doing

Here at Coles Group, we have ambitious store opening plans for our Liquor brands!

Reporting to the Head of Location Planning, you will be at the heart of this growth story as you advise where to open new stores across and determine the level of sales that they could generate across our Food, Liquor and Fuel businesses.

This role is accountable for setting new space targets for multiple Liquor brands (Liquor land, Vintage Cellars, First Choice Liquor Market). Producing an ambitious network plan to provide a pool of opportunities from which future space, sales and profit growth can be drawn will be pivotal to the success of this position.

You will also:

  • Present property proposals and insight to varied senior managers
  •  Produce strategic reports to senior stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Lead a small driven team and support the future development of this team
  • Manage a detailed and actionable post investment reviews on all major capex decisions
  • Partner strongly with senior stakeholders with relevant stakeholders across the group.

Good things you’ll need

We are looking for someone who has comprehensive location or network planning experience with developed leadership skills to manage a small of skilled analysts.

You’ll also need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification; Geography, Town Planning, Economics, Property etc.
  • Previous location or network planning experience, preferably with a large retailer or specialist retail/ property consultancy
  • Clear demonstration of driving change processes within a team
  • Presenting property proposals and insight to Board Directors/ General Managers
  • Strong ability to lead and develop a team
  • Comprehensive skills in analysing data, conducting reviews, and trending results to identify and drive sales building opportunities
  • Confidence to voice your own opinion and provide independent advice

  • Be able to provide evidence of attention to detail, proactivity and managing deadlines

Senior Location Planner

Make a positive difference to a top FTSE 100 Retailer’s Property Team

Sainsbury’s Property division is responsible for all Sainsbury’s trading and non-trading property assets, including supermarkets, convenience stores, Argos and offices, industrial and retail depots. It all adds up to give us responsibility for the 4th largest retail estate by number of shops (Over 2,100, and still growing) and the 2nd largest by floor area.

As a Senior Location Planner you’ll draw on market intelligence, location planning expertise and commercial understanding to recommend appropriate investment to satisfy customer demand across all channels – Supermarkets, Convenience, Online, Argos and other brands. You’ll have an opportunity to play a key part in setting the strategy for assigned regions in terms of both new space requirements and use of existing space.

To be successful in this role you’ll need to demonstrate excellent analytical skills and expertise in location planning or/and site research techniques combined with understanding of customer needs.

  • Utilise market data and a thorough understanding of performance of Sainsbury’s estate to define and evolve a network strategy across all channels (for assigned regions) that delivers optimum access to the UK market.
  • Proactively identify growth opportunities and priority areas for investment.

In this role, you will…

Provide strategic geographical and financial analysis and presentation support to our European Property department across UK, Eire, Germany, Poland, Austria & Netherlands plus future new markets. This role will require strong presentation skills and an ability to formulate and debate an opinion with objectivity and confidence with senior leaders across Europe.

  • Manage Customer Postcode Capture Process each year (Agree timings, liaise with Ops/IT/Marketing on set-up, monitor weekly compliance, process raw data, generate customer catchments and customer profiles, share findings across business)
  • Responsible for all data and analysis within our GIS software (MapInfo). Manage the software and data budget to ensure maximum value
  • Develop a strong working relationship with external providers of data/software to understand market developments
  • Maintain Demographic data (e.g. Population, Purchasing Power) within Property ‘Store Database’ and share with BP&A, Store Ops, Merchandising, Marketing
  • Ensure key data e.g. Shopping Population by Town is updated/shared amongst the Property Acquisition Team across Europe
