Thursday 16th July at 5.30 – 6.30pm (Zoom meeting)
In our next event we will look at the early indicators of recovery for the UK retail landscape.
We’ll hear from experts in the field who have been monitoring activity throughout the pandemic and, more importantly, as lockdown rules are relaxed.
Speakers will include:
- Ben Purple, Director at Geolytix. Ben will discuss the early evidence on local and regional recovery from the Geolytix Retail Recovery Index.
- James Miller – Head of Analytics and Insight, intu. James will share intu’s analysis of consumer shopping intentions post lockdown, together with the early experience on the ground in shopping centres.
- Ronald Nyakairu – Senior Insight Analyst, Local Data Company – Ronald will explore the evidence from LDC’s work monitoring the emergence of town and city centres from the lockdown.
After a year as a graduate at Sainsburys, Ben concluded that Location Planning was too niche an area to build a career in.
Over 20 years later, Ben is still a Location Planner. He has worked in-house with Tesco and Co-op in that time, much of it leading teams in Asia, living and working in China, Malaysia and Korea. 2 years ago, he joined Geolytix, where he is now Director of UK and Europe.
Head of Analytics & Insight, intu
James has over 7.5 years’ experience in location planning (Comet, Cushman & Wakefield, DSG International), and over 10 years in a wider customer insight role with Experian, Starcount and intu.
Senior Insight Analyst, Local Data Company
Ronald has a Masters Degree in Business Analytics which focused on the analysis of consumer habits in the tourism sector.
He has worked at the Local Data Company since 2014 and now heads up the insight team which supports our retailer, property, landlord and local authority client base. he has worked on projects on retail redevelopments, planning proposals and appeals, due diligence, pre-acquisition due diligence, market studies and investor strategy.
He also works closely with our academic partners at five universities, supporting the development of new research in the retail sector, as well as supporting over 40 PhD, Masters and Graduate students. He has regularly contributed to media coverage and has featured in the FT, The Telegraph, The Guardian and The Sunday Times, as well as speaking at events for Retail Week, Blackrock and RPA
